Minecraft UUID lookup & username history

Find a Minecraft player by username or UUID. See the current username, both UUID formats, a head thumbnail and best-effort previous names.

Look up a player

A username (3–16 letters, numbers or underscores) or a UUID (32 hex characters, with or without dashes).

Use it to

  • Get the UUID for a whitelist, ban list or plugin config
  • Turn a UUID from a log back into a player name
  • Confirm an account's current name and skin
  • See best-effort previous names

How the Minecraft UUID lookup works

A username goes to Mojang's profile API. A UUID goes to Mojang's session server. Both return the current username and the 32-character UUID, shown dashed (069a79f4-44e9-4726-a5be-fca90e38aaf5) and unbroken (069a79f444e94726a5befca90e38aaf5), each with a copy button.

Previous names come from PlayerDB, a third-party service, because Mojang no longer publishes name history. If that lookup fails, the Mojang result still shows.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Minecraft UUID?

A UUID is the permanent 32-character ID of a Minecraft account. Unlike a username, it never changes, so plugins, whitelists and ban lists use it to identify a player reliably.

Can I find a username from a UUID?

Yes. Paste either a username or a UUID and the tool detects which one it is, then returns the matching current username.

Why do I see two UUID formats?

The dashed form (8-4-4-4-12) is used by some configs and plugins, while the unbroken 32-character form is used by others and by Mojang's APIs. This tool shows and copies both.

Is the name history official?

No. Mojang removed official name-history lookups, so previous names are fetched on a best-effort basis from the third-party PlayerDB service. Treat them as a hint and verify anything important in game.
